Job Description

Stepping Stones Montessori School, a private Montessori school serving children ages 12 months to 15 years, seeks experienced candidates to join our school in the 2023-24 academic year.

Stepping Stones Montessori School offers programs in Children's House (ages 3-6), Lower Elementary (ages 6-9), Upper Elementary (ages 9-12), and Middle School (ages 12-15). In addition, Stepping Stones offers robust after-school programs for Children's House and Elementary. Classroom assistant positions are open for Elementary and After-School Care.

Since 1983, Stepping Stones Montessori School has offered a premier Montessori education in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Our students leave our program confident and self-directed, with a love of learning. Our campus is located in Central Grand Rapids, one mile north of the "Medical Mile". In addition to our main campus, our school hosts a Middle School program at a nearby farm.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Assume proactive responsibility for student safety
• Assist students in resolving conflict and differences
• Ensure materials are available and in order for student use
• Ability to supervise children outdoors in all seasons
• Willingness to observe children
• Open to learning Montessori principles
• Able to set proper boundaries

Skills & Characteristics

• Associates Degree or Comparable Experience
• Experience with children
• Understanding of Montessori principles
• Relates joyfully to children
